Branch Chief-Materials Manager, (BC-WAM)

In addition to General Duties, the Branch Chief, Materials Manager under the general direction and supervision of the Division Chief, Administrative Support, shall have the following responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the direction guidance and training of the Branch Assistants in charge of Materials.
  • Communicate with and provide direct support to the DSO-MA’s.
  • Support District, Division and Flotilla Materials Officers, via their DSO-MAs, by providing the policies and procedures needed to ensure the Materials staff can efficiently and accurately perform their duties.
  • Communicate with ANSC (Auxiliary National Supply Center), the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association etc. to maintain a list of any new, out of stock and back in stock items. Distribute this list to all DSO-MA’s to send to their staff.
  • Develop training guides, PowerPoint presentations, FAQ documents and how-to guides to support the Materials staff to include their elected leadership.
  • Develop any forms and resources needed to simplify and standardize the Materials staff positions.
  • Assist the Branch Assistants in evaluating and updating policies, procedures, forms and publications as needed.
  • Have a scheduled meeting (on-line or phone call) with the Branch Assistants on a monthly basis.
  • Attend a quarterly meeting with the DSO-MAs.
  • Obtain a brief, written, monthly report from each Branch Assistant.
  • Supply content for the Administrative Services Directorate website.
  • Provide monthly activity reports to the Division Chief, Administrative Support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
