Deputy Director – Vessel Examination and Partner Visitation, (DIR-Vd)

In addition to General Duties, the Deputy Director, Vessel Examination and Partner Visitation, (DIR-Vd) under the general direction and supervision of the Director, Vessel Examination and Partner Visitation (DIR-V), shall have the following responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director in performing his/her duties.
  • Serve as Directorate Chief of Staff, providing leadership and mentoring for 6 Division Chiefs.
  • Facilitate the Directorate’s monthly Division Chief online meeting.
  • Provide support to the Director in matters regarding personnel issues, including writing job descriptions, vetting and interviewing candidates, and helping select qualified individuals to fill Directorate vacancies.
  • Be technically prepared and available to fill in for the Director during his/her absence.
  • Collaborate directly with other National Directorates on special projects.
  • Represent the Vessel Examination and Partner Visitation Directorate at National level conferences and events (NTRAIN, NTS, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Occasional travel under orders may be required.
  • Candidate must have earned the Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) Device.
  • Candidate must be a certified Vessel Examiner and/or RBS Partner Visitor with a minimum of two years of experience at the District Staff level or higher. Current or prior National Staff level experience is preferred.
