Auxiliary Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst
(Reporting to Division Chief, FOIA Division-U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters)
CG Headquarters (CG-INV-3) is currently seeking able-minded Auxiliarist to help supplement the FOIA Division with its processing of outstanding FOIA requests. The Auxiliary FOIA Analyst, under the general direction and supervision of the Division Chief, FOIA Division, shall have the following responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing, processing, and redacting FOIA requests in accordance with federal law and Coast Guard policy.
- Coordinate with the Division Chief regarding FOIA case handling.
- Secure, organize, and compile all downloaded FOIA cases onto your CG Workstation Laptop and Encrypted External Hard Drive, which will be provided, to ensure timely and accurate FOIA responses.
- Ensure sensitive or personally identifiable information (PII) is properly reviewed and protected in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Prepare reports on FOIA activities, case status, and workload metrics for submission to the Division Chief.
- Provide recommendations to the Division Chief for any process improvements in FOIA handling, documentation, and case management.
- Assist with training, guidance, and support to other FOIA team members as required.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of active service within the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
- General knowledge of Coast Guard Auxiliary programs and policies (preferred but not required).
- Recommendation of current Commanding Officer (DCO, DCDR, or FC where applicable).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Products).
- Ability to analyze and apply FOIA laws, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to review and redact sensitive information with accuracy.
- Must be willing and able to successfully obtain NEATS Token, via normal CG Security Background Clearance procedures. Sponsorship will be provided.
